  • Aga Cooker Insulation Upgrade

TRADITIONAL COOKING. AMBIENT WARMTH. ALWAYS ON.

A small upgrade that could improve the efficiency of your Aga Cooker and improve heat retention.

    Get Started

    Why Upgrade Your Insulation?

When Aga Cookers were originally installed as solid fuel, Diatomaceous Earth (Aka Fullers Earth) Powder was used to fill all of the voids inside and insulate the cooker. This was paired with a blanket of Rockwool (the same used for loft insulation!) under the enamelled top plate.

Around the same time Oil and Gas models were introduced, this was upgraded to Loose-Fill Vermiculite and again, paired with a blanket of household Rockwool on top.

Vermiculite is still the standard insulation used in traditional 'always on' models of Aga Cooker - sometimes paired with a 50mm blanket of Ceramic Fibre under the top plate.

The Lids and Doors are usually filled with Rockwool insulation. Some 13amp models have ceramic blanket instead.

Over time, and with updated research, we've found that Ceramic Blanket is much better at insulating than traditional vermiculite and rockwool. There's a reason many of the top range cooker manufacturers use this type of insulation in their newer models.

Our Insulation Upgrade for your Aga Cooker can improve its efficiency and reduce the overall running costs.

    INSULATION UPGRADE INFORMATION

The problem with traditional insulation is that over time, vermiculite can drop as it settles into crevices and rockwool can deteriorate. When this happens, you can end up with big air pockets in the cooker that you're paying to heat, and it doesn't retain the heat for long. The solution for this is an overhaul.

Our process includes "furnace-grade", high-density ceramic blanket, improving the thermal efficiency and reducing heat loss through the back and sides.

We carefully remove the enamelled top plate, remove the old rockwool and vermiculite, then get to work.

The ceramic blanket we use is safe and body soluble. We've been very thorough in our research, making sure we don't use the cheaper, carcinogenic aluminium fibre version. We have our own supply of 100% bio-soluble, non-carcinogenic, silicate fibre blanket.

If you decide to enlist the help of another professional company for a vermiculite top up and top blanket, PLEASE make sure that you're confident in their knowledge of the materials. Your health (and that of the engineer) is not worth the risk.

Due to our unique insulation process, this is only available in Scotland for our own trained engineers. A trip down south may be an option depending on area though!
