ElectricKit Advanced - Control Panel

The ElectricKit Advanced System uses a touchscreen display instead of physical dials. This can be mounted externally on the wall or a stand if needed, with your main control screen blanked off.
Hotplates:
Shown at the top of the touchscreen. You can tap them to set your target temperate (1-8) then press the power button to turn on/off. On the home screen, it shows the current temperature, as well as the 'set' temperature.
Ovens:
Controlled in a similar way to the hotplates, you can see the current temperature, then tap to adjust. When on the home screen, it displays the current and target temperature.
4 and 5 Oven Models:
The left hand ovens are also controllable. The top left oven is adjusted in the same way as the right-hand ovens, to a max of 120c, unless you've opted for the high-temp upgrade. The bottom left oven will sit around 20-30c cooler than the oven above.

ElectricKit Advanced - Pros and Cons
In line with our business ethos of honesty and transparency, we will always give you the pros and cons for your choice of Aga Cooker or Conversion.
Being open about the strengths and potential shortfalls of each option, allows us to manage expectations and give you the absolute best solution for your lifestyle.
As well as the advantages/disadvantages of moving to a controllable system, the ElectricKit Advanced also has the below:
Advantages of ElectricKit Advanced:
- Manufacturer track record of reliable systems and thorough testing before release.
- Full touchscreen control panel, located behind the main aga control door.
- Optional external screen upgrade, for easier access on the worktop or wall-mounted.
- Visible temperatures of each area of the cooker (current and target temp).
- Automatic hotplate temp reduction if left higher than boiling when the lids are closed.
- Adjustable 'rest' temperatures for automatically reducing the temperature overnight or in-between cooking periods.
- Induction and Radiant (Ceramic) hob upgrades available.
- High-Temperature Hotcupboard available for 4-oven models, allowing temperatures up to 250c in the top left oven.
- No need to switch between 'modes' to allow remote operation. If you need to rush out of the house, simply open the app to turn the cooker off, or adjust temperatures remotely.
Considerations of ElectricKit Advanced:
- Reduced ambient heat into the room, vs traditional Aga cooker models.
- Due to element placement, grilling should be done at the top of the bottom oven.
- Slightly higher running costs vs other systems.
- Traditional setup of a Roasting Oven with Simmering Oven below, is unavailable (the bottom oven will be at least baking temperatures if the top oven is set to roasting).
- No temperature display for bottom left oven on 4 oven models.
- Conversions for existing 3 oven models need to be physically pulled forward by 30mm, which may impact current installs with tiled in plinths and protrude from cabinets further than normal.
- Unavailable for some older models of Aga Cooker.
- No manufacturer in-house warranty engineers, which means you'll rely on your installer's labour warranty/guarantee to cover any revisit costs.

ElectricKit Advanced Ovens
Typically, you have three oven elements outside of your cast iron ovens - top, middle and bottom. These allow each oven to be controllable in temperature.
The largest element is in-between the two right-hand ovens. This means that your bottom oven will naturally gain some heat when the top oven is on (even if the bottom oven is turned off).
Generally, it will be at least 35% cooler, so if your top oven is set to 220c, the bottom oven will be around 140c (which may rise the longer the top oven is on). You can boost this bottom oven temperature if needed, or reduce it by using your traditional Aga Cooker cold plain shelf.
Your 'Rest' settings can be configured to automatically lower the temperature in each oven in-between uses or overnight. Alternatively, you could turn your ovens on/off whenever needed.
The ElectricKit System is best when used as flexibly as possible, using one oven for day-to-day cooking and the slumber modes if needed. You do have the option of running it 24/7 if you prefer, but your running costs will rise.

ElectricKit Advanced - Running Costs
Running costs will change depending on food cooked, temperature settings and size of room, insulation etc. Use the below as a rough guide.
Top oven:
Used flexibly (timed to reach 220c for 3hrs): approx 24kWh per week (or £6pw).
At baking temperature (180c) constantly: approx 83kWh per week (or £20pw).
Solid Hotplate:
0.15kW or approx 0.03p per hour. £6pw if left on at simmer constantly.
You can choose to replace your left-hand hotplate with an induction hob for the cheapest hotplate running costs available.
Should I turn the ovens on and off, or leave them on?
If you're going to be turning your cooker on/off more than twice a day, then we usually recommend using a slumber temperature of around 100c, then bring up to temperature whenever needed. If your ovens are left to become cold, the energy used to bring the cooker up to temperature each time is greater than the energy consumed to boost from this lower temperature. Keeping your oven on at least 70-100c means the thick cast iron oven panels are always saturated with some heat and your heat up times will be improved, as well as your running costs.
Want lower running costs? Everhot cookers have the lowest running costs of any cast iron cooker on the market, as verified by the advertising standards association.
Take a look at the range here.
ElectricKit Advanced - Heat Up Times

ElectricKit Advanced - Venting
The ElectricKit Conversion is room-venting to negate the need for an external flue system.
The small vented shroud replaces the normal gas or oil shroud at the back of the top plate, in-between the lids.
A 28mm copper pipe will be connected to the ovens and terminated inside the shroud, which brings the hot air from your ovens into the room.

If you're converting your existing aga cooker, you have two options - keep your existing flue for extracting moisture and cooking smells, or removing the flue and venting into the room.
- If you vent into the room, you'll notice steam and moisture coming from the vented shroud.
- If you vent using your existing flue, in windy conditions, heat might be sucked out of the ovens.
- If you have a 13amp electric aga cooker with an external oven fan, you can choose to add the fan configuration when ordering your conversion.
ElectricKit Advanced - Integrated WiFi Timer
If you're looking to reduce your running costs and set your aga cooker ovens to automatically switch on and off, the ElectricKit Advanced has an in-built timer and remote operation via an app.
Features of the ElectricKit Advanced Timer include:
- Automatically schedule each oven to turn on or off.
- Available on the touchscreen, or the mobile app.
- View your current oven temperatures.
- Adjust your current oven temperatures.
- Use a 'rest' or 'slumber' setting in-between cooking periods.
- Up to 10 set periods per day.
If possible, we recommend always keeping heat inside your cast iron ovens, so that they perform perfectly, using the radiant heat to cook your food.
You can turn your ovens on/off when required, or leave them on 24/7. Using your integrated WiFi timer, you automatically bring your cooker up to temperature, and automatically set a 'slumber' temperature for in-between uses.
Using this slumber/rest functionality brings the Aga Cooker in line with more efficient electric ranges like our Everhot and the Esse Range Cookers.
The constantly heat in the ovens stops them cooling completely, reducing the risk of rust from condensation, and giving a gentle background heat. This will also reduce the energy needed to power back up, and allow faster heat up times.
The ElectricKit uses the Remote App "Smart Life - Smart Living", available for iOS or Android.
ElectricKit Advanced - Upgraded Hotcupboard

On 4 Oven Aga Cookers, you have the option of upgrading your hotcupboard (aka, your left-hand ovens) to a 'high temp' version.
As standard, the two left-hand ovens are comprised of one steel box, with the ovens separated by a perforated cast iron shelf. Your bottom oven will always be around 30c cooler than the oven above.
This standard setup allows simmering temperatures above, with warming temperatures in the oven below.
With the ElectricKit High-Temperature Hotcupboard, you have two separate ovens, with a large heating element in-between them.
This upgrade allows up to roasting temperatures in both ovens (up to 250c in the top oven, and approx 220-230c in the bottom oven).
The large element in-between the two ovens controls both ovens. If your top oven is on, your bottom oven will always be around 30c cooler (as they share the same heating element).
This additional temperature range gives you a lot more potential for increasing ambient heat from your Aga Cooker.
